Aren't Mondays Grand?!

GREETINGS!

I have decided I love Mondays! Used to be, in my working for pay life, I detested Mondays; they were equal to my feelings for Sundays (which were ruined because the next day was Monday!) Now, I love looking forward to what the week has in store; after my laundry is done of course! :)

And on one day during the week - when I wasn't blogging - Ronnie came home and told me he had bought 2 donkeys!! This is Eeyore on the left, and Jenny on the right. Not real original names, but they know them, so felt I couldn't change them. Eeyore is about 7 years old and Jenny is about 2. She is Eeyore's daughter I guess. The wood structure you see part of is the beginnings of the shed Ronnie built for them to get in out of the rain and wind and thunder and lightening. Now, I don't know if they do or not, but it makes me feel better knowing they can!

This is a better picture of Jenny. They look a lot alike :) but besides the obvious plumbing fixtures, you can tell them apart by their face; Eeyore's is much darker. They have the cross markings on their backs and are really quite nice. They allow me to brush them in the shed, and feed them in there. They love fresh carrots and cabbage leaves. We had one of those huge round bales of hay delivered for them and also feed them sweet grain and corn. And of course apple and peppermint treats. I am new to Donkey Motherhood, but so far so good!

I was not a total stranger to these two; they lived just down the hill from us in the holler and I would talk to them every time we drove past them. Ronnie stopped and talked to "Bill", the owner, one day and told him I always looked for them and he said he'd sell them for $100 for the pair. So there you go - instant donkey farm. We also had to put up an electric fence and make a pasture. That didn't take long, and so far they have not escaped. The real trial was keeping the dogs out of the pasture, as donkeys and dogs don't get along. Tell that to a border collie and a blue heeler! But so far so good; a few shocks and kicks and hopefully a lesson learned!

TA DA!! This is the pair of "muck" boots Ronnie came home with for me. They are really cute - brown with pink horses. So far I haven't had to wear them, but I'm sure they will come in handy when it rains hard and gets muddy, etc. and I have to go feed them.

So, that's my story for today, and I'm stickin' to it! I love my donkeys and enjoy them immensely. Strange what can fill your heart with love and teach you things. My Savior does it all the time - puts stuff in my heart! Until next time, take care and God Bless.
