The Smell of Spring

GREETINGS! On one of my trips to a WalMart store last week I had the greatest sense of smelling Spring! It was a nice, warm 80's kind of day and I was driving with my window down of course. And the smell of sweet honeysuckle was so strong it was unbelieveable! You could see it alongside the road so there was no doubt that's what it was. And then a while later I had the smell of wild onions! Believe it or not, that's a good smell too.
And then there are the pastures full of these yellow flowers. I don't know if the cows like to eat them or not, but if they do they have a feast laid at their feet! It reminds me of the yellow buttercups I used to find on my Aunt and Uncle's dairy fields when I was young and used to spend summer days with them. Although, the butter cups weren't near as prolific as these little yellow guys!
Don't forget these little red/yellow dudes! I don't know what they are but I call then Indian Paintbrush. They really are pretty, and seem to grow almost anywhere. Gives the fields and roadsides a nice showing.
And as I was almost home, here was another turtle making his way across the road. It sure is the season for them! It's nothing to see 4 or 5 of them out and about this time of year. I love 'em! So, I hope you are getting to enjoy the smells and sights of Spring, and taking the time to appreciate where they come from - like who created them! :) Until next time, take care and God bless you and yours.

Chicken Update

GREETINGS! I've been lazy, among other reasons, and never posted the two finished chicken houses that were put in up the road about a mile from us. You recall I've posted different phases of the building, and so I thought it was time to post the end product!
I don't know how long these buildings are, but they are huge! They have been done for over a month, so I am assuming there are chicks inside even now. Although driving by them, you cannot see or hear or smell anything! Hope it stays that way.............. Kind of makes me shy away from eating chickens, but wouldn't you know that last night we had a big roasted chicken in the slow cooker; and tonight it's chicken and dumplings! Ahhhh, such is life......... That's all I know for today. Until next time, take care and may God Bless you with his grace and love. I hope that some day soon I'll figure out this new blogging format and know how to have the spaces between paragraphs show instead of it running everything together!!!

April Outing

GREETINGS! Well, here I go trying to write a new post on a new format unsolicited and provided by Blogger. I wonder why people have to keep re-inventing the wheel?! Bear with me and cross your fingers that the end product is readable! :) Last Thursday my BF Judy and I went on our monthly outing to lunch and shopping. We covered 3 towns and 6 antique/junk/consignment type stores and had lunch to boot! I bought quite a bit of stuff at Judy's prompting, :), and it was fun. This is the biggest purchase I made.........and hauled it home in my van!!
I was so happy to finally get a love seat and be rid of the big couch that took up way too much room in my little living room. Judy is using the couch in her new, unfinished house for now, and when she moves in she will take it across the street to a consignment furniture store. I so appreciate her helping me get rid of it! The love seat is a dark chocolate brown in a kind of chenniele (sp) fabric. The throw pillows add some lightness to it, and the light streaks in them match the curtains! We ate lunch at Mazzio's, a pizza place that has a terrific salad bar and your choice of pizza slices with it. YUMMO! We always eat a huge salad when we go there.......... I think that's all I'm going to write today. More pictures of treasures to come next time. Until then, take care and God Bless you.

Technically Driving Me Crazy

GREETINGS!

It has been a few days (12) since I've been able to post a new blog. My server (I hope that's the correct term) decided to put everything over on Google - whether you wanted it or not. And that totally messed up my email and blog and other stuff. It said I didn't have a blog and I could make one if I wanted. Only when I tried to do that, it wouldn't let me. To make a long story short, it made me a google account and my crosstel account and they conflicted and I couldn't do squat!

I spent about 5 hours on the phone, on several days, with the "help/support desk" and they couldn't figure it out or fix it. Then my sister-in-law Mary came to my rescue! She came down yesterday and in less than an hour had me fixed up! Yay Mary!! I'm telling you, I was sooo stressed out from all this I was ready to throw the computer out the window. Tends to make a person think they are nuts!!

Stopped by my friend Kathy's the other day and begged for a bouquet of her Iris -- my favorite flower. It's been so long since I've had fresh flowers in the house. It is really wonderful to see them and appreciate them.

I went to "town" and had my hair cut and permed this morning. What a treat that was - it feels so good. Hope it looks better too! My BF and I are going on our monthly outing tomorrow, so will report on that later.

Oh, almost forgot about this! Last week we were invaded by a herd of cattle! That's just a few of them; I stopped counting when I got past 20. Of course the dogs were in 7th heaven. Take a Border Collie and a Blue Heeler and tell them "go get em" and then just stand back and watch the fun! The cows came back a couple of times and Ronnie finally went to "their house" and reported them! Haven't seen any since, so guess they mended the fence!

Well, that's all I know for this time. It feels good to be able to chat with you all again. Until next time, take care and God's blessings to you.

Early Mother's Day Present

GREETINGS!

I've still been out working in the yard, picking up fallen branches from the Fall and Winter. It seems to be a never ending job! And when I came to some branches that were too big for my "pruners" to cut, and no one would help me with a saw, I decided I needed a chain saw!

So off to WalMart and lo and behold, I found a light-weight, battery operated, cordless chain saw! I has an 8 inch bar and is a breeze to use!!

Kind of a blurry shot, but you get the idea. If you are fortunate enough to have a husband who helps you, that's great; if not, you might want to check into getting your own little chain saw!

Thats all I know for now. Until next time, take care and God bless you and yours. And I hope you all have a wonderful celebration of the Resurrection Day............He is Risen!!
