Exploring

GREETINGS!

Yesterday Mary and I went on an adventure! She wanted to go up to a dam at Fort Gibson, OK to get some pictures of eagles, so we left home about 10 a.m. in her little Toyota pickup. We got about 5 miles from home and her truck started heating up so we called Tom and turned around heading back to home. Tom came and got us and took us back home so we could get my van and continue on our trip. The fan belt had broke on the pickup and caused the over heating problem so Frick and Frack fixed that while we were gone.

I drove to Fort Gibson which was a pretty drive through the dry winter hills. We stopped at Sonics in Fort Gibson and had lunch and then proceeded on towards the dam. We had to pass by the old Fort Gibson and so we stopped there to take pictures and walk around. I'll post those another time. On to the dam, but no eagles; so we turned around and headed back through old downtown Fort Gibson and on to Muskogee.
We also stopped at a huge antique store in downtown FG. I don't know that I've ever been in one so large, and with so much "stuff"! We had fun just browsing.

The next two pictures are views of the dam. As you can see, there is not much water in the river in front of the dam. Our rainfall is really low this year and it shows.

There are also no eagles present! Just a few scavanger birds on the bars.

This is a little cafe that is across the parking lot at the bottom of the dam.

When we got to Muskogee, we went to a couple of furniture stores pricing full size mattress and box springs to replace the twin bed in the front bedroom. We finally decided on one at Furniture Factory Outlet; but didn't have Mary's little truck. However, the salesman said he could tie it on top of the van! So........I think now I am an official Okie! See for yourself........... The mattress fit inside but..........

I drove home very slowly - about 35 miles @ 50 mph - so we didn't get airborne or lose it. I'm so glad we don't know anyone around here! ha :) What an adventure! Oh, we finally got home between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. - long day. Can't wait to see what the next outing will bring.

Isn't life grand? Take care and God Bless.

What a sight to see! Glad you made it home safely, but at least if you broke down, you had a place to rest! :)
